Overview
A DAT deck supporting 96kHz high sampling and featuring legato link conversion.
Recording of high-frequency components exceeding 20kHz ・For playback, we developed
a wide mode compatible with high sampling, raising the sampling frequency from the conventional
48kHz to 96kHz, doubling the previous 48kHz, resulting in recording and playback frequencies
reaching twice the previous 44kHz. To achieve this technology, tape speed has been doubled,
drum speeds have been increased from 2,000 rpm to 4,000 rpm in wide mode, and the head
amplifier bandwidth has been doubled from 4.7 MHz to 9.6 MHz.
* Recordings recorded in wide mode cannot be played in the conventional standard SP
mode or long LP mode, and in wide mode, playback time is half that of SP mode.
To achieve natural music playback over 20kHz even in standard mode, it features Legato
Link Conversion.
Legato Link Conversion is a technology that brings the frequency components of natural
sounds and music closer to the original signal waveform. By processing digital signals based
on the recorded signals on tape and connecting data with smooth functional curves, it is
possible to reproduce sounds closer to the original before tape recording.
Additionally, by estimating the original signal before recording and reproducing sounds above
20kHz according to the 1/f attenuation characteristics, it achieves more natural sound
reproduction.
The A/D converter is equipped with an 18-bit multi-bit converter. Furthermore, the inclusion of
a Dether circuit suppresses the occurrence of non-linear distortion and zero-cross distortion.
The D/A converter is equipped with twin original high-speed pulse flow D/A converters.
By operating with an extremely high oversampling of 256fs, it achieves smoother and more
natural sound reproduction.
For the system clock, it adopts a clean clock circuit that supplies audio and digital systems
separately, independently driving the oscillation of the clock that controls the system, thereby
improving the signal-to-noise ratio and distortion rate.
The head is equipped with an AT (All Track) head.
To accommodate faster head rotation in wide mode, precision technology has been
incorporated, resulting in an AT structure with a uniform 20μm track processing along the
track trace direction. Additionally, glass is welded onto both sides of the head to improve wear
resistance, and the gaps are treated with special polishing to enhance tape contact stability.
Vibration effects are reduced by adopting panel stabilizers combined with vibration-damping
rubber to suppress micro-vibrations around the front panel, cassette stabilizers that securely
hold tape to prevent sound quality degradation caused by vibration, honeycomb chassis
supporting mechanisms and circuits, large insulators, and hood vibration-damping structures.
It features a character recording (character pack) feature that lets you record your preferred
information such as song titles and titles. At the start of each song (start ID section), you can
save up to 60 characters of preferred information such as song title, performer name, and source
title, and data can be saved using either the remote control or the main unit.
Additionally, the recorded information is scrolled on the display at the start of each song, and
while the song is playing, it can be redisplayed using button presses.
Equipped with CD-Q code sync start ID recording function, allowing digital input from CD to record.
At times, the start ID is automatically recorded using track numbers and indices in CD-Q code
data transmitted to the D-07 via a digital interface, enabling reliable start ID recording even
without a silent part between songs, instead of detecting the alternation of each song with
a two-second silence section.
This eliminates errors in recording start IDs caused by fade-in and fade-out sections.
It features a TOC (Table of Contents) function that records information such as the total
number and total time of the tape, the performance time of each track, the start time of each track,
and the remaining recording volume at the beginning of the tape.
It features a digital fader that functions during digital input recording, playback, analog
input recording, and playback during fade-in and fade-out.
Furthermore, playback operation features include random play, where the microcontroller
randomly selects and plays songs based on TOC information; time skipping, which allows you
to skip back or forth from your current position by a preferred time before playback; and
one-point memory, where the microcontroller remembers the point on the tape when a button
is pressed and plays that point with a single touch. It includes features such as fine
queue/review for recording Start ID and checking the head.
In addition to the standard SP mode, it features three modes: wide mode for wideband
recording and playback up to 44kHz, and a long-duration LP mode for up to 4 hours
(120 minutes of tape usage), which is advantageous for air checks on satellite and
FM broadcasts.
To meet the demand for wider bandwidth, carefully selected parts are used. Television,
