Material and Design

The specific grade of carbon selected for the Mat 1 was painstakingly chosen from a variety of samples that differed significantly in their acoustical properties. The physical design was also chosen to enhance the beneficial effect of using pure carbon graphite, including a 0.5mm cut out that accommodates the paper label of all records, ensuring the maximum contact between the mat and vinyl. The Mat 1 is 3mm thick and 295mm in diameter.

Manufacturing

The Mat 1 is machined on a high-speed CNC lathe to tolerances of +/- 0.005 inches. Once the final shape is achieved, the Mat is polished at nearly 4,000 RPM to remove 90+ percent of the loose carbon particles on the surface, leaving the Mat a silver-gray color.

Extraordinary care was given in choosing an appropriate sealant for the Mat 1 to prevent residue from contacting your vinyl while preserving the unique sonic properties of the material. Each side if the Mat 1 receives three micro thin coats of a proprietary sealant that are applied by hand with automotive-quality HVLP spray systems.

Manufacturing Tour: Making a Mat 1
Each Mat 1 is made by hand using the most advanced machining tools available. Final shaping is achieved to tolerances of .005 inches using computer controlled lathes.

The following photos take you through the entire process of making a single Mat 1.

Humble beginnings - each Mat 1 is machined from a billet of high grade pyrolytic carbon (aka pure graphite), which is first sliced to make a manageable piece of material for machining.
Excess graphite is removed to achieve the correct diameter.

Here you can see the cut out for the label being made.

While still on the lathe, each side is polished by hand. The mat is spinning at nearly 4,000 RPM in this photo!



After polishing, each side of the mat is sealed with four coats of a proprietary sealant (not pictured) to yield a finished Mat 1.
As you can tell, making each Mat 1 is a labor-intensive process. Don't be confused by other companies advertising "graphite" or "carbon graphite" record mats - those mats are really made of cheap carbon fiber molds, not true graphite. We're proud to offer the only pure carbon record mat in the world for less than $1,000.

Over the years I have tried most of the raved outlets on the market and the Porter Ports from Albert Porter were the best that I had found that did not add or take way from the music... here's a few, Oyaide R1, Synergistic Research Telsaplex, FIM 880, WattGate Silver 381 ag, PS Audio powerport premier, Jena Labs, Isoclean Gold. All these other outlets did something to harm the music in some way...some hyped up the highs and mids and others had bloated low ends. I always thought the Porter Ports were the best on the market that I had tried until I tried the Maestro outlets. The Maestro outlets are the most neutral and most accurate outlets that I have ever heard. I let the maestro outlets settle-in a little for 7 full days and nights playing music non-stop before comparing them with my porter ports. When I compared the two I found that the porter ports sounded a little closed-in and a little Flat sounding when compared to the maestro outlets. The porter ports was not as clean or as clear when compared to the maestro outlets. The porter ports low end was a little bloated too when compared to the maestro outlets. On complex musical passages with the porter ports in my system I found myself turning the volume down more...much more! When I was listening to music with the maestro outlets in my system the Trasparency of these outlets were truely amazing and I hope this will get even better as these outlets settle-in more! The soundstage was wider and deeper and they were more upper frequency air too when compared to the porter ports. The Maestro outlets had a lower noise floor that allowed more of the suble cues to come through more. The maestro outlets also had a better separation of individual instruments and vocals....more natural sounding more REAL! I think the non-plated maestro outlets have a much more direct sound than the non-plated porter ports because the Maestro outlets have a higher quality copper content. My vintage sansui sp-5500 horn speakers just completely disappears now with these maestro outlets in my entry level system...Marantz pm-7001 and matching marantz CD player, DH Labs power plus power cables, very cheap copper interconnects from wal-mart, Synergistic Research Alpha quad active speaker cables... I think these maestro outlets will become an Instant Classic!

Hi Fernando,

Just to give you a update on the Outlet. It settled in after a few days. I am very pleased with it's positive impact on my system.

A little history I tried several outlets some that cost double of what yours cost, for the most part I was not pleased with them due to their sonic signature, many seemed to tip up the upper end from the mid-range up, thus while giving the impression of more detail was more like raising the treble on a receiver, to me hyper detail that was not what real music sounds like and I have been to many concerts over the years.

My final choice out the many I tried including the raved about R1 and DX Oyaide's, and Telsa's was the Porter Port that gave me a balance and yet lowered the noise floor. I was quite happy with that outlet. The body and the soul of the music remained with the Porter.

I had the itch to try something new, and I happened to see your ad on Audiogon some months back. It looked well made and it was cheaper than many I tried over the past few years.

Well long story short I am quite happy with the Mastero. It is musical, allows my gear to reproduce great detail, lower noise floor better than the porter, no editorializing like the Oyaide, my gear simply improved in all areas with these outlets. They are a step up from my Porter Ports, and they trounce the Oyaide and Telsa's.

I found this very interesting, when I rolled some tubes the change was more dramatic than with the Porters Ports when in my system, My switch from RCA 12AX7 black plates to the 12AX7 Brimar with the Mastero in use was like night and day, before they sounded close to each other, the Brimar now the tube I enjoy the most, god knows I will have to try my other 12AX7 now and see if I have a different opinion of them due to using the Mastero outlet.

The outlet has detail but remains smooth and even balanced. Overtones seem to extend longer, which is usually the case with a lower noise floor. The LessLoss power cords have this ability also, that once heard it hard to believe a power cord could lower the noise floor to such an extent. The Mastero has added to that area of improvement.

For $79.00 I feel it was money well spent. I really cannot find fault with their use. Good value and more important a better sound system with them in the chain.

DC-offset is always present on the mains, although not always to a great extent. The smallest amount however, creates a restlessness in your sound and vision.




Direct Current on the mains is caused by asymmetrical loads, for example a hairdryer at half power. Also printers, photo copiers and espresso-machines are known for their DC-generating properties. It causes cores in audio-power transformers to saturate, causing them to hum. Another point is, that DC will limit the ability of transformers to deliver large peak-currents undistorted. When peak currents are drawn, distortion will rise to an unacceptable level. Transformers may get warmer, even hotter so to say. Particularly American-made transformers are sensible to this, because they were designed for their mains frequency, which is 60 Hz instead of 50 Hz (European standard). Often, this DC fluctuates to such a great extent that transformers not only start to hum, but are limited in their ability to deliver the peak-currents needed to feed the equipment in the right way! On top of this, a humming transformer will set vibrations through the chassis, and, as nearly all parts are micro phonic, this will blur your sound. Last point, is that all steel parts on the primary side of the power supply will get magnetized, resulting in another adverse effect on sound quality. It is quite clear: something has to be done about this, one of the possibilities is to install a POWER DC X-TERMINATOR, which has, to enhance sound quality one step further, a parallel suppressor is fitted (SNS MODULE).


The POWER DC X-TERMINATOR is a serial solution to this problem. Serial means, that the unit has to be connected in series with the (humming) equipment. Just connect the DC X-TERMINATOR''s plug to the wall-outlet, then plug in the plug from the humming piece of equipment into the socket of the DC X-TERMINATOR, and voila, the hum has gone.

NOTE: The POWER DC X-TERMINATOR is not capable of reducing hum in bad transformers. If some strip from the transformer-core has come loose, or a winding is loose, you should replace the transformer. This can't be cured by any device from outside!

To determine, if you actually suffer from DC on your mains, act as follows:Listen carefully close to your equipment, if you have any hum at all. If the answer is yes, then stay there for a while, and listen carefully. Does the hum alter in time, you can be sure, that DC on the line is the cause of this hum. Do you hear a very constant hum, always present and always the same loudness, the transformer itself may well be the cause.

There are two kinds of filtering, serial and parallel (shunt) filtering:

Serial filtering:
With serial filtering an inductor is added in series with the consumer. The frequency of the mains will almost completely get through, because the impedance (alternating current resistance) of the inductor is here relatively low. As the frequency rises (distortion spectra) the impedance of the inductor will increase and as a result it will become less permeable for distortions.
A less positive property of serial filters is that there will always be a loss caused by the impedance of the inductor - at 50 Hz - and the resistance of the inductor wire. The POWER SOURCE is a serial filter but because of its unique design, the disadvantage mentioned above is negligible.


Parallel filtering:
This is based on the principle that the parallel impedance will become lower when the frequency increases. The parallel filter will be ‘seen’ by mains distortion as a short-circuit, so it will be reflected to the source. Because the SNS PLUG is a parallel filter, the main current to your equipment doesn't flow through the filter, thus preventing loss of dynamics. Other advantages are the simple construction (low production costs) and a high flexibility. A disadvantage of parallel filtering is that it is less effective than serial filtering.



Where to install?
The SNS PLUG can be plugged into any free power socket. Some effective places are:
1) As close as possible to the consumer unit (the source),
2) Into the distribution block (or line conditioner) of the A/V set
3) Next to the source of the distortion, e.g. light dimmer, fluorescent lightning, transformer (e.g. halogen light), refrigerator, computer, heating-installation, etc.





The KE-MND (Mains Noise Detector) is a tool to transform mains interference (EMI/RFI) into sound. Using this tool you are able to localize the source of the mains distortion. If you plug a SNS PLUG in the same outlet as your distortion source, you can judge the result.


For a maximum effect, we recommend to experiment with the placing of the SNS PLUG at various places. Multiple SNS PLUGS - placed on several spots in your house - is highly recommended.


The SNS PLUG has an overvoltage protection against peak- and induction charge. The stated current (88 mA) of the SNS PLUG is only capacitive. Your electricity meter will not even notice it. The real current consumption is 0,25 mA.





The SNS PLUG consists of 3 resistors, 7 capacitors, 3 varistors and an inductor. This configuration is also used in the output stages of our POWER SOURCE.

All parts are the best quality available. After testing, the entire circuitry is potted with a permanent resin and our special black sand to create an even quieter sound by preventing mechanical resonances. Our unique black sand contains precious metals and is capable of absorbing EMI and RFI. Another important benefit is the dampening of the contacts in your distribution strip, this resembles the AC STOPPER.

The result of the SNS PLUG is a lower noise floor, higher definition, a wider & deeper soundstage, better resolution of lower frequencies and less treble harshness with more detail. The SNS MODULE contains the components of the SNS PLUG in a module type enclosure. Easy to install in a power amplifier, power strip, consumer unit or near any other source of distortion.




This is an example of a SNS MODULE installed in a Krell FPB700cx. The results are astonishing! The soundstage doesn't squeeze that much, which results in more details throughout the entire frequency range, a more natural and powerful bass and a more transparent midrange. Just like all our products, the QA PLUG is the result of countless hours of research, testing and listening. The basic principle comes from Quantum Resonance Theory which was developed in the 80s by Coherent Technologies. In those days, computer monitors radiated substantial amounts of EMI and RFI which impaired the health of electro sensitive workers. Coherent Technologies was the first to come up with a device that effectively reduced this problem. A few manufacturers of audio accessories later discovered that this technology also could be used for audio/video purposes.



......... At Kemp Elektroniks it took us several years to modify the original QRT module in such a way that the effect on perceived sound did meet our goals. Inside the QA PLUG are two electronic circuits, a low frequency and a high frequency (QRT) circuit. The QA PLUG uses a small amount of energy from the mains to generate a rather complex pattern of electromagnetic waves that eliminate or at least diminish the negative effects of electromagnetic pollution which is always present in our environment.



The result is a more pleasant ‘analog’ sound and picture. Low frequencies will be richer, deeper and have more structure. The midrange will have a clearly more natural timbre. The picture quality will be sharper with more contrasts and richer colors. It nearly sounds like the musicians are actually playing in your listening room!


Our QA PLUG can be combined with our SNS PLUG, and SR PLUG or any other mains related product like filters, distribution blocks, power cords etc. The working principle of the QA PLUG is totally different from all other mains products. They do enhance each other! .......


The best location for a QA PLUG is the mains distribution block of your A/V set. The QA PLUG is equipped with intensity control to adjust the effect to your preference. If you find the effect too strong you can also install it in a wall outlet further away from the A/V system. The latest version QA PLUG has an attenuator to adjust the strength of the effect, so the plug can simply stay in your mains distribution block. Most people seem to prefer a setting around 3/4 of maximum. After installation of the QA PLUG it takes 30 to 60 minutes to achieve the best results.

*Step 1: turned potentiometer down to zero, plugged SR and here-we-go. I’ve chosen Hail-the I Dub compilation: a heavenly production, clean, clear and tidy.
*Step 2: turn clockwise to 9 o’clock. Apart slightly deeper bass (illusion?) I did not notice audible differences.
*Step 3: potentiometer turned to 11 o’clock. Wow! Bang! The bass got “edge”, the soundstage depth becomes deeper, higher, wider, naturally balanced with whole lotta “black space” between instruments. Almost holographic. Voices placed in front of drums (as it should be), colour and tidiness of voice to die for.
*Step 4: potentiometer turned from 1 o’clock to max. Too much of a good thing equals nogood.
*Back to 11 o’clock – back to heaven. The sound reminded me to the “deep listening” sessions after bong (ab)use when I was young(er).
*The last step: SR Plug switched of. The sound I’ve thought was fine. seemed - wall of sound! Plugged again. I will never unplug it again. I damn love it.

In 1952, the German physicist Wilfried Otto Schumann discovered that the cavity between the earth and ionosphere acts as an electromagnetic resonant cavity. Energized by electrical discharges (lightning), very low frequency resonances are created around the earth.

The lowest frequency (the fundamental)has a frequency of only 7,83 Hz which corresponds with a wavelength of 38,000 km/24,000 miles (the circumference of the earth is about 40,000 km/25,000 miles). The ionosphere protects us against harmful radiation from the sun and from out of space, there are indications that the so-called Schumann Resonance plays a role in this. On the earth, mankind is creating more and more high frequency radiation. RFI (Radio Frequency Interference) and EMI (Electro Magnetic Interference) will pollute your A/V set and, according to certain people, also your listening room and your body.

What does it do?

The newly generated 7,83 Hz wave by the SCHUMANN RESONANCE PLUG will counteract the effects of this radiation. Where to install?

For best results, we advise to position the wire antenna vertically in the middle between your loudspeakers. Most practical way to do so, is to attach the antenna to the wall behind them. The SR PLUG is sensitive to its orientation, you can estimate this by means of listening. Under most circumstances, the middle position of the level adjuster is the most pleasant one, but feel free to turn it up a little more, in which case you’ll hear more detail and precision. However, you may notice a slight decrease in timbre, but this will mainly depend on the set used, the listening room and your personal preferences.

Use RINGMAT DOMES under loudspeakers, turntables, CD players (also DVD, SACD, and all transports, DACs, etc.), amplifiers, tuners, video machines, all other items of hi-fi or A/V equipment, and all supporting platforms, shelves etc.

RINGMAT DOMES can be used on their own and will generally outperform most other isolation point support products. They perform even better in conjunction with STATFEET. Nevertheless, for best results directly under speakers and equipment, they should be used with RINGMAT FEET (which include a STATFOOT with every set).
When used in conjunction with RINGMAT FEET, DOMES can enable loudspeakers to provide a sound quality that is superior to that using traditional spikes. This concept was first passed to us by the Danish hi-fi manufacturer Holfi, when they were trying the RINGMAT FEET under loudspeakers, but they needed an additional component to fit between the underside of the speaker and the top of the FEET. RINGMAT DOMES were conceived as being the best solution, whereupon it was then established that they outperformed cones and most other forms of isolation point support under all sorts of components and in the support of platforms, shelving systems, etc.

Each DOME is made of compressed cork. It has the shape and appearance of a cone but without a ‘point’ at the top. There are three sizes, Mini, Small and Large, available in sets of 3 or 4.



ForWhere a lower profile is required, use the Mini DOMES. These have a nominal diameter of 21mm and a height of approx. 9.5mm. Although noted for weights up to 13kg, in practice we have been using them for much heavier weights, up to 69kg, but with some loss of shape. However, from the sonic point of view, they do not generally provide the same level of sound quality as the Small DOMES when used underneath equipment.

Nevertheless, it is difficult to be categorical about which size of Dome produces the best sonic performance. A number of factors can come into play. For example, when used on glass shelves, the large Domes can seem to provide the best sound because they appear to be able to absorb so much more of the ‘ringing’ resonance one otherwise gets when using glass as a support surface.

Whilst using three DOMES instead of four may sometimes result in a superior sound quality, such arrangements are less secure. This is a particularly important consideration with regard to loudspeakers. Therefore, when considering whether to use three or four DOMES, bear in mind the increased risk of accident when using three DOMES.

Instructions For Use
Spike Stoppers are designed to be used on a level surface with the flat base resting upon the surface below (or on top of Ringmat Feet). This allows for the spike in the loudspeaker, systems table or other spiked support to be placed in the spike hole on top of the Spike Stopper.
Spike Stoppers are designed to grip the sides of the spikes rather than have the weight bearing applied through the point of the spike. If the spikes are not wide enough to be gripped firmly at the sides in the Spike Stopper holes, wider/fatter versions of the spikes must be used.

Each set of Ringmat Spike Stoppers contains one denser, blue speckled Dome, where the cork has a synthetic rubber binder. As a general rule, place the denser Spike Stopper underneath the spike bearing the least weight above. For example, if most of the weight carried by the support is at the rear, place the denser Spike Stopper underneath the front right hand spike. If most of the weight is at the front, place it underneath one of the rear spikes. With supports carrying a turntable, place it under the front left hand spike instead of under the front right hand spike. The other Spike Stoppers can then be placed in the remaining required positions.

When three spikes are in use, again place the denser Spike Stopper underneath the spike bearing the least weight. Some experimentation may be worthwhile. Ideally, the least weight should be on the side where two spikes are positioned but unfortunately the loudspeaker or systems support manufacturers will have already positioned the spikes, and are inclined to place two spikes under the heaviest side rather than under the lightest side.

Spike Stoppers enable loudspeakers and equipment to provide a sound quality that is superior to using traditional spikes alone, especially when used in conjunction with Statfeet.

In the case of systems tables, especially where Statfeet are already in place under the equipment above, some experimentation may be necessary to determine the best position and orientation of the Statfoot. Start by placing the Statfoot under the front right hand Spike stopper as shown in the Statfoot instructions for televisions. In some cases, improvements can be obtained by turning the Statfoot clockwise 90ฐ. Do not be surprised if there are marked changes in the sound as changes are made in the positioning and orientation of Statfeet. On a carpet, a Statfoot will crinkle and may not perform to its full potential unless a flat surfaced support is introduced between the Spike Stopper and the carpet.

Further significant improvements in sound quality can be obtained using Spike Stoppers on top of Ringmat Feet – Cheetah, Tiger or Indian Jumbo, as appropriate for the weight, where small Spike Stoppers are used; African Jumbo or Mammoth Feet, as appropriate for the weight, where large Spike Stoppers are used.

A range of coloured plastic Spacers, each a different thickness, that are placed on top of the Spacer Mat and which lock into it using the stud on the outer edge of the Spacer Mat. Using the Spacers in various combinations enables the user to adjust the height of the record above the platter in steps of 25 microns. Ringmat Spacers enable the stylus rake angle to be easily and accurately set for each side of an LP (the 2 sides of an LP are always different – see below) without having to adjust the height of the tonearm or the stylus pressure and without losing a reference point at which to return. A standard set of 8 Spacers, as supplied with the full Ringmat Support System, would comprise:

With any combination of Spacers, at least one base Spacer (Yellow or Clear) is placed on the Spacer Mat first. All the others are placed so that the thinnest is on top and the others are in descending order of thickness. It is very important that a Spacer is not placed on top of another that is thinner.

All Spacers, including the Base Platter Mat or Spacer Mat, have the proprietary anti-resonance cut-outs found in so many of the Ringmat and Statmat products.
Purpose and Performance Summary

Ringmat Spacers improve LP sound reproduction by overcoming the following engineering and alignment shortcomings inherent with all turntable reproduction systems, irrespective of price:

LPs of different thickness. Differences in vinyl thickness have always existed, but the advent of an increasing number of 180g audiophile pressings makes the current problem far greater.

Different angles at which records are cut. This problem is every bit as prevalent as vinyl thickness and the effects can be just as great.

The adoption of platter diameters smaller than that that is ideal from an engineering aspect.

The unequal mass of a record and the platter, which needs to be graduated.

Unwanted resonances, which feed up through the turntable and are inherent in all platters. Untreated, these resonances will deflect stylus tracking and compress dynamics.

The "ringing" of some platter materials, which needs to be damped.

The sonic advantages are a much wider and deeper soundstage, fuller sound, greater and sharper dynamics and energy, improved tonal reproduction, deeper bass response, and the retrieval of far more detail. Above all, the way the timing of the music, and the setting of the music within the ambience of the venue, clicks into place.

It may be considered that a Spacer adjustment of 25microns (0.025mm) is too small to make much difference, but in a highly tuned system using a non-spherical stylus, such as that used by Ringmat for design and development purposes, as well as many other vinyl lovers, a difference of 25microns can immediately rob the sound of the true magic of the recording. In the right situation, the effect of the difference is not something that requires focus and attention – it just hits you hard between the eyes.

If the ability to adjust height is not critical (such as where the stylus tip is spherical), then the Spacers used with the MRA version of the Ringmat Support System should be considered. Whilst this version has only a Spacer Mat and two Spacers (1 Clear and 1 Slate) instead of the Spacer Mat and the standard eight Spacers of the full System, the range of adjustment provided enables many records to be played without any great difficulty and with excellent reproduction whilst retaining the advantages listed in 3 to 6 above and at a much lower cost. The MRA version does not include the booklet ‘How to Set Up and Fine Tune a Turntable’, which is then available separately.

User Tips
When seeking the correct Spacer height (i.e. choosing the right combination of Spacers), or stylus pressure even, such as when fine-tuning without Spacers, users may encounter what might be regarded as the correct height and alignment but which is nevertheless a false setting. As the height (or stylus pressure) changes, it can seem to be "right" every 375/400microns (0.375/0.400mm) in the manner of an octave, but only one such setting is really the correct one. A false setting usually has something about the sound that is not quite right, such as being a bit thin (too much height), ragged at the soundstage extremes (left and right) or closed in, or bland, non-involving and possibly over dynamic (height too low). In a good system, such false settings can still be beguiling and there can be the temptation to think any shortcomings that may seem to be there is a fault with the recording or pressing, whereas it really is just a matter of not accurately aligning the stylus within the groove. (Well, some recordings and pressings may be at fault!). The treasures awaiting discovery in those grooves will not be found without a full set of Ringmat Spacers, or a continually adjustable tonearm height regulator (often very expensive), or otherwise adjusting the stylus pressure for each record, or record side even - which method of adjustment would you prefer?

As just mentioned, one side of a record requires a different height to the other, by around 75microns (0.075mm). This appears to be due to the different polarity of the material in the LP and the effect that this has when stamping it out. Sometimes it is the ‘A’ side that needs the extra 75microns (a Green Spacer); sometimes it is the ‘B’ side - this uncertainty can arise even within a boxed set of records.

The material polarity of an LP can also directly affect the sound, where one side of the record will always sound better then the other. The adverse effects on the less good side of the record can be corrected to some extent using the LP Blue Statmat and Statcap in the manner described in the instructions, as well as increasing the height by some 75microns.



LP BLUE STATMAT AND STATCAP
The performance of the system will be dramatically enhanced even further with the use of the new LP BLUE STATMAT and STATCAP. They bring a far greater purity of tone and unimaginable width to the soundstage as well as improving all other aspects of sound reproduction.

Whereas the standard LP Statmat is a single layer of our patented conductive film, the LP Blue comprises two Statmat films, one each side of a polyester substrate, and in addition there is a third Statmat film called a Statcap. These three antistatic films work together at 90บ to each other. The configuration is very much more powerful that way, eliminating all those “clicks” and “pops” caused by static and preventing the record mat from being “stuck” to the underside of the disc when it is lifted at the end of play. There is also a further benefit in using the latest LP Statmat configuration in that unwanted electronic fields arising from playing LP records, which cause phase distortions to the signal, are largely eliminated. The full extent of this problem is not appreciated without doing A/B comparisons with and without the Statmat devices.

Using the Ringmat Support System - in pictures

Stage 1 - Place the Ringmat Spacer Mat on the bare platter.



Stage 2 - Place Ringmat Spacers on the Spacer Mat in accordance with the guidance contained in the Support System Instruction Book, ensuring that the Spacers engage the "stud" on the outside edge of the Spacer Mat.



Stage 3 - Place the LP Blue Statmat (or the standard LP Statmat) on the Spacers.

At all Stages, align the pattern of the cut outs in the materials the same way.



Stage 4 - Place the Ringmat over the spindle, so that it rests over the earlier Support System components. The LP Statmat fits within the inner ring on the underside of the Ringmat and does NOT affect the height or stability of the Ringmat. Where the Ringmat is not an Anniversary model, and therefore does not have a cutout pattern to guide placement, see that the "RINGMAT DEVELOPMENTS" label is positioned, as shown in the picture below, to the right of the two circular holes in the Ringmat Spacers.



Stage 5 - Place the Statcap on the Ringmat as one of two optional positions for the Statcap. Each LP has a good side and a not so good side due to the natural polarity of the materials used for stamping out LPs. This could be the 'B' side, but it could equally well be the 'A' side. You can only reliably tell which is which by playing both sides (or just one side once your ears have become attuned to the situation) and noting, for future reference, which is which. Where the good side is to be played, place the Statcap as shown here for Stage 5.



Stage 6 - Place the record to be played on the Ringmat and than place the Ringcap over the spindle and let it rest on the record label.



Stage 7 - When playing the less good side of the LP (see Stage 5 above for explanation), place the Statcap on the Ringcap.

RINGMAT DOMES can be used on their own and will generally outperform most other isolation point support products. They perform even better in conjunction with STATFEET. Nevertheless, for best results directly under speakers and equipment, they should be used with RINGMAT FEET (which include a STATFOOT with every set).
When used in conjunction with RINGMAT FEET, DOMES can enable loudspeakers to provide a sound quality that is superior to that using traditional spikes. This concept was first passed to us by the Danish hi-fi manufacturer Holfi, when they were trying the RINGMAT FEET under loudspeakers, but they needed an additional component to fit between the underside of the speaker and the top of the FEET. STATMAT CDi BLUE PLUS is a new and far more powerful Statmat. Like the Award Winning standard CDi Blue, it comprises two Statmats working together at 90บ to each other and on different sides of a 0.1mm blue polyester substrate. The Statmat film on top is a mirror image of the standard one below.

However, STATMAT CDi BLUE PLUS differs from the standard CDi Blue in the following 3 ways:
The Statmat film below the 0.1mm blue polyester substrate has been cut slightly differently.

Both the top and lower films are connected to the substrate at 3 equidistant points instead of at just 2 points in the case of the lower film of the standard CDi Blue.

As with the single film Statmat CDi PLUS, the CDi BLUE PLUS has a re-peelable adhesive collar around the centre hole on the underside of the Statmat. This ensures fixed contact with the disc so that the Statmat stays firmly in position during play and (with drawer loading mechanisms) when the tray opens and closes. However, the Statmat lifts off the disc with ease for re-use with the next disc.

As with all Statmats, there is a special exchange/upgrade price for existing users. Please contact your local Ringmat supplier.

It is important that the re-peelable adhesive collar around the centre hole on the underside of the lower film maintains its adhesive properties. Therefore, care has to be taken not to drop the Statmat onto the carpet or to place it on any surface from which it can attract hairs and other particles. Also, care has to be taken that the disc to be played is clean and that greasy fingerprints have not contaminated it. Moreover, that any such greasy particles have not contaminated the clamp.

Users have reported that Post-it sticky notes made by 3M are very good for cleaning up and refreshing the adhesive collar.

It is emphasised that, as with all Statmats, the sound, and sometimes the picture, is improved when used with DVD, SACD and CD-ROM software.

STYLUS ENERGY IMPEDES ACCURATE TRACKING OF YOUR RECORDS...

We have launched a New Anniversary Ringmat, with much improved performance over the standard model.

The new Anniversary is called Anniversary Gold Spot and at about 2.9mm thick it will be some 100 microns thinner than the existing Anniversary. It will look very much like the existing Anniversary, but with the addition of a Gold Spot. An even more advanced acrylic adhesive is also used. Performance over the existing Anniversary will be much improved, at least as much again as the standard Anniversary over the old XLR.


DUMPS ENERGY MORE EFFECTIVELY INTO THE AIR

Celebrating 10 years of RINGMAT design, the standard ANNIVERSARY RINGMAT was the first new Ringmat to be introduced since 1996. Based on the immensely successful 330 MkII XLR, the ANNIVERSARY RINGMAT has the anti-resonance cut-outs to be found in Ringmat Spacers and new concepts for the operation of the rings.

With earlier Ringmats, the rubber-based adhesive used included a polyester carrier, which acted as an interface between the cork rings and the special paper substrate.
